JMEC Joins Community in Celebrating Food Bank Fundraising Success
ESPAÑOLA, N.M., October 14, 2022 – Jemez Mountains Electric Cooperative, Inc.’s John Ramon Vigil, board of trustees secretary; Michael Hastings, CEO and general manager; and Tony Martinez, marketing and communications coordinator; joined other business, neighborhood organization, community group, school and senior living community representatives at a reception Thursday in Santa Fe celebrating the success of the Food Depot’s 11th Annual Neighbor-to-Neighbor Fund Drive.
The 2022 campaign raised $293,996, a new record for the organization that collects food from local, state and national sources and distributes the donations through more than 145 partner agencies. The monies raised in this campaign will help feed more than one million meals to needy families in nine Northern New Mexico counties from Santa Fe to the Colorado border, which covers the five counties served by JMEC.
Co-Bank, a national cooperative bank serving rural communities, partnered with JMEC in its donation – one of the 155 organizations who came together to collect a total of 1,100 donations – all to help Northern New Mexico’s food insecure.
