For over 30 years, Jemez Mountains Electric Cooperative has committed to higher education through its additional scholarship program funding.

Including: Tri-State G&T (power supplier to JMEC); Basin Electric of Bismarck, North Dakota; NMRECA Youth Tour Contest and Rocky Mountain Electrical League Foundation in Colorado (RMEL).

 

All scholarships may be used at any two- or four-year accredited university, college, or vocational/technical school.

Contingent upon when the above programs provides us the scholarship information, students may apply for any of these scholarships by completing specific application forms, which are distributed to all area high school guidance counselors in February. Applicants will be judged on grade point average, SAT/ACT test scores, activities, goals and need. Scholarship applications must be received at JMEC's headquarters office by the deadline printed on the form. Applications can be delivered in person, by mail or e-mail. The winners are announced in May and dependent on JMEC schedule(s), we may provide winners with certificates presented at senior awards and graduation ceremonies.

  • To be eligible for the Basin Electric Scholarship,  you must be a SENIOR from a high school within JMEC's service territory.  Also, Parents/Guardians must reside within the Co-op's service area for a minimum period of one year and must be a member-consumer.  
  • To be eligible for the Tri-state Scholarship, your must be a SENIOR and your Parents/Guardians must reside within the Co-op's service area for a minimum period of one year and must be a member-consumer.  

Applications may also be requested from JMEC by Parents/Guardians, and Students via e-mail or telephone.
