JMEC COVID-19 Press Release

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Espanola, New Mexico – March 23, 2020 - Jemez Mountains Electric Cooperative, Inc. (JMEC)

In keeping with Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham’s measures recently introduced to reduce the risk of spreading coronavirus (COVID-19), we have made the decision to limit the business hours of our cashier lobbies at all offices effective immediately.

We know there is growing concern as the outbreak and impact of COVID-19 continues to evolve. The health and safety of our customers and employees is a top priority. We understand your connection to the world is very important especially during this time. We also know you need to stay informed on the latest news and to check in with your loved ones.

Jemez Mountains Electric Cooperative Inc. is taking steps now to be prepared in the event there is a significant impact from the coronavirus in our communities. We are focused on maintaining a healthy workforce, and keeping key personnel - such as line workers and member service representatives available so that we can continue to provide the excellent service you expect from us.

We have prepared our employees to follow the strictest of guidelines in an effort to help curtail the spread of COVID-19. We are monitoring the guidelines of the CDC and New Mexico Department of Health to ensure the highest standards are met. While monitoring our employees and communities, we will continue to activate service and take care of our customers. If an escalation in the spread of COVID-19 impacts any of our service areas, we will take appropriate measures to keep our customers and employees as safe as possible.

JMEC at this time has suspended all disconnects (except emergency and safety disconnects) until further notice. Past-due notices will be mailed out and not hand delivered as is customary.


In an effort to protect the health and safety of all our employees and consumers, all JMEC lobbies have been closed.  

We are still available by phone from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.  We encourage our Consumers to conduct transactions utilizing the following methods:

  • Online bill pay (JMEC will absorb all Credit Card transaction fees).

  • JMEC Mobile App

  • Non-cash payment accepted at drop boxes located in front of JMEC’s Espanola, Cuba and Jemez Springs offices.

  • 24/7 Interactive Voice Response system (505)753-2105

  • JMEC Outage Hotline 1-877-753-0095

  • Century Bank drive-through windows to make payments.

  • Jemez Valley Credit Union drive-through (located in Jemez Springs and San Yisidro)
