Attention JMEC Members

Attention Jemez Mountains Electric customers! Please be aware of a scam that is continuing in our area! Thieves’ are calling and demanding payment by MoneyGram or something similar.  They make it look like they are calling from JMEC and threatening that service will be disconnected.

JMEC  is following the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission Moratorium that extends the  temporary prohibition for disconnections of residential utility customers in New Mexico during a public health crisis. The NM PRC extended this moratorium through January 6, 2021.

Please remember when JMEC is closed for any reason all disconnects are suspended and in this case until the moratorium is lifted, you will not receive a disconnect notice.  If you think this is a fraudulent call requesting payment, hang up immediately and call back to 1-888-755-2105, 505-753-2105 and inform us of the call or come into our offices between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm.

Investigate before you pay.

Do not hesitate to contact law enforcement if you suspect this may be happening.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE:   Effective March 2020, JMEC temporarily suspended all disconnects for non-payments to help ease the burden consumers may be under due to the Coronavirus outbreak.   Initially, we started mailing out notices instead of hand delivering.  These notices were sent out as a reminder only and JMEC was not charging the $15.00 fee, but we have since stopped mailing these out to avoid confusion.

JMEC partners with Century Bank in Espanola and Jemez Valley Credit Union in Jemez Springs/ San Ysidro for Bill Payments
